Your Favorite Irish Liqueur is now Vegan

In case you didn’t have enough Irish coffee during your St. Patrick’s Day festivities this year, Baileys has brought a new item to the market that’s perfect for latte loving millennials and lactose intolerants alike: Almande. This almond-milk enhanced liqueur blends the rich, nutty flavors of almond milk with vanilla for a sweet, creamy drink that promises to be as good as the original. It’s dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan, aka you can serve it to your friends without fearing dietary restrictions. It’s a mixology miracle!

“We are excited to welcome spring with Baileys Almande, which offers the same quality and delicious flavor that people love about Baileys, but now in a dairy-free, gluten-free and vegan option that we know many are thrilled to enjoy,” said Alex Tomlin, SVP of Scotch Whisky & Reserve Brands at Diageo North America.

Baileys actually released a version of this liqueur last May, though it turned out to not really be vegan since the recipe used beeswax. After outcry from the vegan community, they realized how great the demand was and got to work-this new and improved version is certified vegan and better than ever. And perhaps best of all, a serving of Almande has the same amount of calories as a glass of wine .  We will definitely drink to that!

If you didn’t think that making a vegan version of Irish cream was a pressing issue, Baileys is kind of brilliant in getting a jump on this – plus following a Pumpkin Spice release is no easy task. More than 40 million Americans are lactose intolerant, and I shouldn’t even have to tell you how popular dairy alternatives are these days – have you walked into a Starbucks or matcha shop lately? From soy milk to coconut milk to hemp milk, going dairy-free has never been trendier or more delicious. I’m really hoping this Baileys make its way into my barista’s hands so I can perk up my commute.
