If you happened to miss the news, or you are “unplugged” and need a refresher, we’ve got you covered. Raclette is a cheesy dish of Swiss and French origins that literally melts away with your heart, igniting all your dairy-filled desires.

Imagine a waiter brings a huge cylindrical mass of cheese to your table, heats it up, and scrape off a large melty chunk, onto your plate — this is raclette. Its name is derived from the French word “racelar,” which means “to scrape.” Swiss and French people have been enjoying it for decades, but it’s finally making its mark in the U.S., specifically in NYC.

Raclette-NYC claims to be the the original U.S. joint to get all the yumminess this dish has to offer. According to their official website, “the restaurant, brings this traditions to life in the East Village of manhattan with authentic Raclette de Valais and Raclette de Savoie cheese melted on half wheels and scraped tableside directly onto customers’ plates.”

The cheesy goodness isn’t just served up on its own. The hot cheese is sliced onto a plate that can be made up of anything from veggies and bread to various meats. Whatever way you choose, one thing’s for sure — these guys definitely know how to cut the cheese!
